Austin TX, the capital of Texas hosts large tech companies, base to Dell, Oracle, Indeed, National Instruments to name a few. Then, an all girls STEAM and project based high school quipped with 3D printers, Laser cutters, labs and more to prepare the next generation STEAM women leaders. And it could benefit from the FIRST robotics program.
Having been in robotics for over five years I know what I gain even now. Every season I learn more, robots and beyond. From robot design, build programming, testing, competing to teamwork, innovation, life and career skills that’ll stay with me forever.
Being an advocate of FIRST, when I researched and realized this specific women’s leadership school could benefit from a FTC team, I reached out to the STEM teachers there asking if I could present all about FTC and help them start a team or two. The teachers Ana and Donna were very gracious and encouraged me to go there to present all about FTC which I did. I took the team robot, created a presentation and presented it to them and demonstrated the season’s robot. It was feel-good moment for me. I am hoping this school will start one or two FTC teams. And if they do I’ll be elated and glad to mentor the teams the first season until they compete.
